Railcar Coatings Applicator - Beaumont, United States - Iron Horse Terminals
Description
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Clean, mask, prep and coat interior/exterior surfaces and associated areas of freight cars.
- Remove any railcar parts that do not need to be blasted or painted.
- Touch up coatings defects and make repairs as necessary.
- Identify flaws such as blisters, runs/sags and streaks so that their causes can be corrected.
- Verify paint consistency, using a viscosity meter.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties
- Blast the exterior and interior of railcars of old paint, lining, rust, dirt, and grease using handcontrolled guns and hoses.
- Notify supervisor of needed repairs.
- Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs.
- Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours.
- Ensure AAR quality assurance standards are met.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Interact with crew members and supervisors in a team environment.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Comply with the established safety policies and support continuing awareness for safety
- Perform other duties as assigned

Normally Expected Education and/or Practical Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated ability to handle outside working conditions is a plus.
- Familiar with tools and machinery required to perform minor railcar repairs.
- Experience hydroblasting, sandblasting, or sponge jet blasting is a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic drawings and scope of work.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Frequent exposure to loud noises.
- Continually required to stand, walk, bend, crouch and climb.
- Continually required to use hands and fingers and reach with arms.
- Frequently required to lift up to 75 lbs and team lift up to 150 lbs.
- Must be able to physically enter rail cars, handle confined spaces and heights.
- Use of respirator as required.
- Continually required to talk or hear.
- Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
Pay:
$ $25.00 per hour
