Estimator - Houston, United States - American Track
Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Review design documents to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing for key project elements
- Preparing material estimates and cost estimates
- Conduct site investigation prior to bidding to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present
- Create labor estimates and proposals in timely manner for any project
- Managing bids from vendors and subcontractors
- Compiling and recording actual costs
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/construction related field (preferred)
Work Experience Required:
- 12 years of successful management experience
- 12 years of experience in construction estimating (Railroad experience preferred)
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Highly organized and proficient communicator
- Ability to read and accurately interpret civil drawings
- Proficiency with Heavy Bid, Construction link or similar estimating products
- Proficiency with primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced in project estimation
- Exceptional time management skills
