The American Red Cross Corporate Finance department is seeking a Financial Analyst to provide financial support to corporate clients.

Duties include - preparing and reviewing financial reports, providing general financial analysis and contributing towards annual budgeting and forecasting process.

The incumbent must be able to perform assigned tasks independently and work comfortably in a team environment. The position will report to the Director of Corporate Finance located in Washington, D.C.


Responsibilities:


  • Analyze financial data, perform detailed general ledger research, and present clear [oral and/or written] summary of findings.
  • Produce periodic financial reports and adhoc special reports as required to report business performance results, including variance analysis and key drivers of performance for corporate clients' decision support and general business support as assigned.
  • Prepare reports from subsystems, including purchase card, travel card and supplier payments for management review.
  • Support supervisor through monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and incremental investment processes.
  • Oversee monthend and yearend activity by reviewing assigned clients' account analyses, transactions, coding and preparing journal entries and backup.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Participate in cost savings validations of Red Cross supplier contracts in partnership with Supply Chain Management.
  • Compare purchase requisitions to budget, review account coding & approvals on requisition requests in Procure to Pay system and review transactions for compliance with internal policies and GAAP.
  • Meet with clients regularly for assigned cost centers to review financial results and discuss planning assumptions and variance drivers Perform general ledger research for the team, identify root causes of issues and prepare recommendations for solutions and process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Related Major
  • A minimum of 2+ years experience in financial management and analysis.
  • Strong skills with various Microsoft Office products (Excel,Word, Power Point) are essential.
  • Experience using large scale automated financial systems (Oracle Consolidated Financial System), planning tools (Hyperion Smartview), data warehouse and query tools (Business Objects/Webi, Power BI), procurement and payment processing systems (Coupa, Concur) desired but not required.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accruals are essential.
