Overview
The Upper Valley Haven is seeking a shelter staff member for our Hixon Adult Shelter. The shelter operates 24/7 and accommodates up to 20 individuals. Shelter staff assist guests and visitors, facilitate daily operations, and ensure the environment is safe, clean, and welcoming.

They are able to build positive and supportive relationships and are respectful and accepting of people facing challenges in their lives.

Reliability and punctuality are vitally important to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.

Compensation
The pay rate for this position is $19 per hour.


Schedule:
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 2nd shift 4:00 pm - 12:30 am (24 hours per week).


Requirements:


Critical to the success of this position are:

  • Proven track record of reliability and punctuality
  • Works well independently and knows when to ask for support
  • Flexible and adapts easily to constantly changing circumstances
  • An ability to use a strengthsbased approach to build relationships and solve problems
  • Works well in crisis situations
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass a Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Must be able to bend, move about, and lift up to 50 pounds
