    Being a Behavior Support Specialist for Devereux PA Children's Services has its Advantages

    You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need at our School for Integrated Learning located in West Chester, PA.

    Pay-rate: $ $21.97 (based upon experience)

    Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (52 week year round position)

    Everyday as a Behavior Support Specialist you will:

    • Provide behavior management support to individuals in a school setting.
    • Carry out specific interventions that are developed by the Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
    • Transfer skills to individuals' natural support in the least restrictive environment.
    • Assist the Educational Administrator by deploying direct care staff strategically throughout the facility.
    • Support teachers in managing student behaviors
    • Serve as an exemplar to direct care staff and ensures efficient communication between the school, residential program, and/or school district representatives.

    Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.

    EDUCATION: Registered Behavior Technician certification or RBT eligible; required. Bachelor's degree in a human service field preferred.

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of at least one year previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting.
