Position Summary


LGBT Network is seeking a full-time Outreach & Impact Specialist in the Long Island Region (Nassau, Western Suffolk, and the East End).

The Outreach & Impact Specialist works with the Director of Outreach & Impact on two main areas:
(1) Coordinate outreach efforts to increase community access to affirming and culturally responsive health services and (2) Conduct impact evaluation, inclusive of both measuring results and communicating impact to funders and stakeholders. The Outreach & Impact Specialist reports to the Director of Outreach & Impact.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Outreach: Access to Health Services_
  • Conduct communitybased outreach activities to identify and engage program participants, including identifying new opportunities to connect and engage LGBT people
  • Expand our digital outreach efforts through the development of creative and attractive engagement strategies and the identification of new online platforms as they evolve
  • Build relationships with community partners such as health and human service providers, organizations, and community groups
  • Assist the Director in coordinating the LGBT Services Consortium, convening regional providers and organizations to increase coordinated delivery of health and human services for LGBT people and families in the region and build a safety net of affirming services
  • Deliver LGBT Cultural Competency trainings and other community education to providers and community members
  • Assist the Director in organizing an LGBT health fair, bringing together medical, health, and mental health providers to connect LGBT people to affirming and competent services
  • Assist with the development of an LGBT Services Directory by identifying and engaging LGBTaffirming providers for inclusion in the director
  • Participate in largescale programs and events with a wide reach and impact, such as the annual LGBT Youth Conference, LGBT Families Day, and various Pride Initiatives

  • Impact: Measuring & Reporting Performance _
  • Communicate program impact with government funders and stakeholders
  • Conduct program data collection and data entry, including developing and monitoring systems to ensure accurate and timely collection of participant demographics, program utilization data, and program impact measurements
  • Assist the Director with program reporting, including accurate and timely data collection and submission of various reports for executive management and external funding sources
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, education, social work, or other related field required
  • At least 23 years of professional experience, with a preference for experience in a nonprofit setting; schoolbased outreach and education programs; and/or working with LGBT youth (Work experience will be considered in lieu of education)
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with demonstrated experience in effective outreach and engagement
  • Strong group facilitation, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Solid written, verbal, and problemsolving skills
  • Passion and motivation to be a part of the LGBT Network movement to help LGBT people to be themselves, stay healthy, and change the world
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • People who represent the community being served are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Flexible work schedule is a must, as this position requires working afterschool and evenings and some weekends for inperson events, services, and outreach activities
  • Reliable public transportation and a valid driver license, as this position requires travel throughout Long Island, including Nassau, Western / Central Suffolk, and the East End.
