Hours of operation: 7:30am - 5pm Monday -
Thursday, 7:30am to 2:30pm Friday

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position serves as a point of contact with patients, providers, attorneys and insurance companies and is responsible for conveying issues regarding the maintenance of medical records.

Responsibilities include coordinating, prioritizing and follow through until resolution.

All responsibilities are performed according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines within the practice and according to all applicable laws.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:


  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience:
  • Two years medical records experience or equivalent in a medical office setting

  • Effective communication/interpersonal skills
  • Perform efficiently with analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive issues
  • Ability to multitask
  • Work under mínimal supervision and make independent decisions using good judgment

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Move lab reports, radiology reports, medical records from outside facilities etc., accurately and precisely into the patient charts. Task to the appropriate provider.
  • Prepare and release medicals records as requested. Requests are received from patients, other medical facilities, medical record retrieval companies and attorneys.
  • Prepare and release medical records for HEDIS, Risk Adjustment record review, Pay for Performance review or any other insurance chart review as requested; schedule an onsite chart retrieval appointment if needed.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls.
  • Update the Prenatal folder daily.
  • Put Exclusively RN's telephone messages into the patient charts and task the provider.
  • Sort, scan and task all medical records received from Banner Desert (labs, radiology, ER reports etc.).
  • Retrieve and maintain hospital records from the Banner system.
  • Complete tasks from all staff and the patient portal.
  • Receive referrals for established and new patients. Quick register new patients, forward all referrals for insurance verification.
  • Scan advanced back office scanning from offices.
  • Effectively utilize the EHR system for proper efiling of documents.
  • Warm transfer of all patient phone calls to different departments.
  • Performs other related work as requested/directed by management.
  • Attends all regular staff meetings.
