Shop Operations Manager for Semi Truck Dealerships


Position Title:
Shop Operations Manager


Reports To:
Regional Director


Job Summary:


The Shop Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of five semi truck dealerships, ensuring seamless service delivery, parts inventory management, and exceptional customer service.

This role includes managing and supporting five Shop Managers, fostering a culture of excellence, and driving continuous improvement across all locations.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:
Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of service departments across five semi truck dealerships.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent service quality and operational efficiency.

Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.


Team Leadership:
Directly manage five Shop Managers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.

Foster a positive and productive work environment through effective communication and team-building activities.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for staff.


Customer Service:
Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained across all locations.

Address and resolve customer complaints and service issues in a timely and professional manner.

Develop strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Inventory and Parts Management

Oversee parts inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing excess inventory.

Coordinate with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of parts and supplies.

Implement inventory control measures to reduce waste and improve efficiency.


Financial Management:
Prepare and manage budgets for service departments, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Monitor and control expenses, including labor costs, parts, and supplies.

Analyze financial reports to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.


Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all service locations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.

Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect employees and customers.

Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.


Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve operational goals and objectives.

Identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.

Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term business strategies.


Staff Development:
Identify training needs and opportunities for professional development for Shop Managers and their teams.

Organize training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.


Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of semi truck maintenance, repair processes, and dealership operations.

Proven leadership and team management skills.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Proficiency in inventory management and financial analysis.

Ability to travel between dealership locations as required.


Working Conditions:
The position requires frequent travel between dealership locations.

The work environment may include exposure to automotive shop conditions and noise.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet operational needs.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Capability to lift and carry parts and equipment as needed.
