LOCATION OF POSITION:

MDH, Eastern Shore Hospital Center, Cambridge, MD (Dorchester)


Main Purpose of Job:

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support and date master to the Activity Therapy Manager and the Rehabilitation Services Department.

This department has a common mission of providing services to the patients admitted to this hospital by providing recreational and educational programs, which assist them to re-enter and conduct their lives in the community.

This position is responsible for providing Rehabilitation Services personnel and those individuals conducting treatment programs information, which supports the daily operation of the rehabilitation department including tracking data on patient participation in treatment mall groups/activities, making changes on patient schedules assisting with the evaluation process to facilitate improvements in patient treatment/programming.


Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.


Experience:
Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.


Notes:


  • Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  • Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience managing data within a computer database for patient treatment, admissions, transfers and discharges
  • Experience planning and designing effective systems to assist in the administrative processing for patient treatment
  • Experience collaborating with multiple disciplines within the healthcare setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suites, Google Workplace, and electronic and/or paper medical records

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard on a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
