Job Summary and Qualifications:


Responsible for participating in developing, leading and implementing logístical and data formats for Medical Staff Committees and maintenance of the Physician QA Profiles; medical staff performance chart review, data retrieval, data entry, data presentation/formatting, and general support for the Hospital's Performance Improvement program.

Serves as a resource for the quality evidence-based measures (core measure program), patient safety initiatives, risk management program and special projects.

Participates in the collection, compilation, analysis and presentation of risk management information, including grievances. Prepares data for committee presentation and records accurate minutes. Supports other hospital committees as requested.

Assists in Risk Management education and training on incident reporting procedures for all hospital personnel, and in the timely and thorough investigations of patient, visitor and staff related incidents with documentation of findings.

Assists with investigations and other claims handling needs as requested. Maintains legal files, required reports, minutes, etc.

Ensures confidentiality of all Quality and Risk Management records, reports and information and acts as a credible resource and liaison with other departments and outside sources regarding hospital standards, regulations and practices.


  • Oversees the collection, compilation, analysis and presentation of evidencebased measure data as assigned
  • Prepares and presents requested reports regarding the findings and outcomes of evidencebased Measures;
  • Cross trains with other coordinators to be able to assure department function continuity in the event of illness or other staff absence;
  • Understands all elements of the Comet database and is proficient in use
  • Ensures reliability and validity of the evidencebased data and able to maintain a minimum 90% proficiency in validation scores;
  • Facilitates timely submission of Comet data;
  • Assists Manager and/or Director in data gathering and analysis as requested;
  • Supports and collaborates with physician leadership as directed for presentation of outcome data at department meetings for the purpose of quality improvement;
  • Serves as a resource to peers, colleagues, management and medical staff regarding requirements of evidencebased measures, as assigned.
  • Maintains a current working knowledge relative to state and Federal standards and regulatory requirements (i.e., CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission standards, state hospital licensure, etc.)
  • Maintains a current working knowledge of relative patient safety standards and national patient safety initiatives and outcome measures (i.e., Leapfrog, IHI, evidencebased measures, etc.);
