    Job DescriptionSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Supervises assigned staff, interns, and volunteers.


    SUMMARY

    Under minimal supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant III is responsible for the more difficult and complex day-to-day accounting and operations duties, ensuring accuracy, compliance and financial integrity.

    This role will be responsible for supervising the Accounts Payable process, preparing financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, training junior accounting staff, conducting financial analysis, assisting with the annual audit and budget development and carrying out other assigned responsibilities.

    Access Plus Capital is a US Treasury-certified community development financial institution and Small Business Administration (SBA) Approved Microloan Intermediary Lender.

    It offers financing and training services to small businesses and entrepreneurs in central California.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Assist colleagues with accounting related inquiries.
    Supervise the Accounts Payable process.
    Maintain Accounts Payable log and vendor records.
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording daily transactions.
    Review and post journal entries.
    Maintain the general ledger.
    Review transactions to ensure compliance with control procedures.
    Perform reconciliation of bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
    Prepare and review audit schedules and special reports, as assigned.
    Prepare and review cost allocations.
    Review and compile data into financial reports.
    Trace general ledger activity to supporting documentation and identify irregularities.

    Prepare and submit reports for assigned duties and communicate status to appropriate parties as required.
    Assist in developing departmental budgets.
    Ensure accuracy of budget reports.
    Assist in the completion of the month-end close.
    Prepare and approve wire transfers and ACHs, as assigned.
    Prepare financial statements and reports, as assigned.
    Maintain fixed asset schedule and generate depreciation entries.
    Directs, leads, monitors, and trains team members to achieve department objectives and/or goals.
    Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.
    Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
    Works evenings and weekends as required.
    Performs other duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Additional relevant work experience may substitute required education on a year-by-year basis.


    EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Accounting/Finance.


    OTHER
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices (with preference in grant reporting and related governmental regulations) and procedures.
    Knowledge of Non-Profit and CDFI industry preferred.
    Significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software. Ability to learn new database systems.
    Experience in Blackbaud Accounting software preferred.
    Strong customer service skills.
    Strong leadership skills.
    Priority responsibilities include borrower contact, communication, and servicing of existing accounts of APC.
    Displays problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    Demonstrated high level of organizational skills.

    Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships between departments, outside affiliated professionals and business organizations.
    Ability to develop teamwork cohesion with co-workers on related units.
    Ability to travel to client business locations within organizations service territories.
    Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
    Prior to employment must pass a criminal background investigation and credit history check. Maintain criminal clearance and acceptable credit history.

    Maintain a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by Access Plus Capital carrier for those driving personal vehicles on behalf of the organization.
