Forestry Technician (2-3 positions)

Description
We are currently seeking 2-3 forestry technicians to assist with project work on the Sierra National Forest. The position start date is estimated to be early to mid-spring. (April/May)

• Essential duties: _
• National Forest Foundation contract work on the Sierra National Forest includes boundary flagging, data collection using GPS and other data collection methods.
• Timber Harvest Plan Layout.
• Flagging harvest boundaries, WLPZ's, breaks in treatment types etc.
• Timber marking on both private and federal lands.
• Forest inventory and cruising
• Desired Qualifications_
• Good physical condition
• Able to hike and navigate in mountainous terrain.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to operate ATV's and 4x4 vehicles in rough terrain.
• Attention to detail
• Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.
• Preferred but not required, completed, or actively pursuing 2 or 4year forestry or related degree.
• Proficient in Microsoft word and excel.
• GIS Experience a plus.
• Desired Experience and skills_
• B.S in Forestry, closely related field or working towards a degree in forestry or closely related field.
• THP preparation and layout
• Use of a compass, D-Tape, prism, clinometer, hypsometer and other Forestry measurement tools.
• Navigation and orienteering using paper maps.
• Compensation_
• Dependent on prior experience and qualifications.
• Hourly wages ranging from $20/hr. to $30/hr.
