Reporting directly to the Vice President of the Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity (OIIE), the DEI Data Analyst supports OIIE in driving positive change through data-driven insights, helping advance institutional inclusive excellence priorities.

This role requires experience with data gathering, data visualization, and data-driven decision making as well as a strong interest in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), justice, accessibility, and belonging.

The DEI Data Analyst holds a pivotal role in tracking key inclusive excellence performance indicators throughout the institution and assisting in communicating them to the community to cultivate a culture of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Additionally, this professional works closely with the Office of Institutional Research and Office of Assessment in coordinating surveys, assessments, and cross-functional projects.


Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities for the DEI Data Analyst include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performing in-depth data analytics (including quantitative, statistical, and comparative analyses) to determine patterns and recognize trends; preparing reports, presentations and storytelling; assisting with the translation of inclusive excellence data into meaningful, actionable narratives for stakeholders and general audiences and developing and maintaining DEI dashboards

Key projects include:
- o Supporting the Vice President in the development and refinement of performance metrics for institutional inclusive excellence priorities: annual equity reports on enrollment, recruitment, hiring, employment, promotion, retention, and separation; the university's DEI Strategic Plan; and systematic DEI climate surveys for all stakeholder populations.
- o Supporting the Assistant Vice President of Equity and Compliance on key priorities utilizing Simplicity Advocate/GME and other case management systems monitoring discrimination, sexual misconduct, accessibility services, complaints, grievances and conflict resolution matters; collecting and compiling data from case management systems within the division for the purpose of translating data into written records, tables, graphs, and charts (including developing creative data visualizations to illustrate key findings); and interpreting data results to provide written commentary that articulates pertinent findings.

  • Assisting with coordination of crossfunctional assessment and survey efforts in close collaboration with Institutional Research and Assessment offices; supporting OIIE's efforts in providing university guidance on best inclusive and equitable practices for surveys and assessment; representing OIIE on the University Survey Strategy Committee
  • Overseeing the division's Vector training platform and serving as point of contact with platform client representatives; working closely with the Office of Technology Services and other departments on timely distribution of online modules; and overseeing student and employee completion of training courses to ensure compliance
  • Supporting programs, events, and activities across all OIIE units; representing OIIE on departmental, divisional, and universitywide committees; and working collaboratively with all units as assigned

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience with data analytics and data visualization
  • Project management experience, including strategic planning processes, or datadriven decisionmaking
  • Experience in producing and monitoring data dashboards
  • An understanding and working philosophy of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, accessibility, belonging, and related inclusive excellence pillars
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in higher education; data analytics; diversity, equity, & inclusion (DEI); social justice; or related fields
  • Experience with HR analytics/metrics or DEI metrics.
  • Prior experience analyzing case management data in higher education, preferably Symplicity (i.e., Advocate, GME) or Maxient
  • Experience with producing and monitoring DEI data dashboards

Salary and Benefits
Targeted hiring range is $60,000 - $65,000 and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retir
