Our small family owned and operated skilled nursing facility seeks experienced activity director. We are looking for a new team leader for our activities department. Qualified applicants must have long term care experience as an activity director. Our health care team is cohesive and supportive and our work environment is comfortable and professional.


Job Summary


Responsible to plan, organize, and implement a program of therapeutic activities designed to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical needs and interests of residents in accordance with the comprehensive resident care plan.


Director of Activities Responsibilities


Develops and delivers therapeutic recreational services to promote the patients opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and /or maintain functioning levels.


  • Completes and posts a monthly calendar of available recreational services.
  • Plans community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and residents.
  • Completes the MDS; Attends and participates in Patient Care Plan Meetings; Reviews/ documents resident progress regularly according to facility policy.
  • Charts individual patient's attendance and participation in group, individual and oneonone recreational pursuits daily.
  • Provides residents with opportunities and support for involvement in group and individual leisure pursuits (i.e. arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities intellectual/education activities, community activities) based upon individual interest and needs. Invites/encourage residents' participation.
  • Leads Resident Council Meetings.
  • Coordinates an effective Volunteer Program.

Supervisory Management Responsibilities

  • Ensures that departmental employees are adequately oriented and trained to perform their duties.
  • Reviews departmental employee performance annually.
  • Receives, investigates, and responds to departmental employee concerns.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, department head meetings, other center meetings, and sits on required committees.
  • Coordinates work of department with work of other departments.
  • Assists in developing and updating departmental procedures and policies.
  • Participates in department budget planning.

Experience

  • Two Years of experience preferred conducting social/recreational programs in a resident activity program in a health care setting
