Job Responsibilities:
Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of the quarterly activity related to interest rate swaps and assessment of continuation of hedge accounting. Preparation of monthly expense grids for corporate real estate and cost initiatives and reporting on variances. Preparation of general ledger entries to allocate corporate expenses to operating companies to support tax and regulatory reporting requirements. Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of the monthly activity related to equity-based compensation. Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of the monthly activity related to other intangible assets. Preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements including equity roll forward and compilation of monthly consolidation binder reviewed by Controller. Work closely with Tax to ensure quarterly tax entries are properly recorded. Preparation of quarterly guarantor financial information, including updating the investment in subsidiary and equity earnings journal entry template for any legal entity changes occurring in the current quarter. Preparation of journal entries for the Windstream Pension and OPEB Plan based on third party valuation. Preparation of all monthly balance sheet account reconciliations assigned to External Reporting. Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls processes and procedures. Assist in coordination of the internal and external financial audit processes. Assist in the preparation of the separate financial statements of the Windstream Pension Plan and Windstream 401(k) Plan. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Strong understanding of accounting theory. Intermediate knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research and resolve accounting-related issues. Strong analytical and auditing skills, with the ability to research and reconcile account balances. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with an internal customer service focus. Microsoft Excel and JD Edwards experience. PowerPoint, Word and other Microsoft Office applications a plus. Proactive and independent. Detail oriented and organized. Ability to meet assigned deadlines. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other employees, management, and auditors. CPA a plus, but not required.Starting pay for this position is $63,500 to $81,700.
