Carilion Clinic headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, is searching for an ACGME residency trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Orthopedic Hand Surgery.
The Orthopaedic Surgery department includes 45+ Physicians and 16 Physician extenders in seven subspecialty sections providing patient centered care throughout the region.
The primary clinical site is in Roanoke, Virginia with an outreach clinic at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, in Christiansburg, VA.
The ideal candidate should possess strong academic credentials as well as a commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research.
Surgeries are performed at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763-bed academic/tertiary care center with a busy Level 1 Trauma program with full support by an orthopaedic trauma and fracture service.
Faculty participate in Education of the Medical Students from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) as well as off service residents and PA students.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has fellowship programs in Scoliosis and Spine Surgery (1), Adult Reconstruction (2), Foot and Ankle Surgery (1), Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery (1-2), Orthopaedic Trauma (2), Musculoskeletal Research (3) a Podiatry Residency Program (9) and is developing an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.
This position offers the opportunity to benefit from an academic practice setting practicing with many of the advantages of a community practice in a state-of-the-art facility, supported by a large academic institution.
Orthopaedic Surgeons have academic appointments through the VTCSOM at the Assistant Professor level with a promotion pathway to Associate and Full Professor.
Research efforts are supported through the department of Orthopaedic Surgery's Musculoskeletal Education and Research Center (MERC). New graduates are encouraged to apply.Minimum requirements include:
