As a Safety Manager with us, you'll create, maintain, and drive compliance toward a comprehensive, consistent safety program at our TransPak customer site, providing expertise and enthusiasm that is instrumental in maintaining compliance with all applicable safety regulations while continually improving the lives of TransPak team members to ensure their safety is our top priority.

You'll work closely with our Operations Manager and Warehouse Operations Manager along with other team members to maintain a safe workplace through safety programs, procedures, and training along with behavioral safety and engineering controls

What You'll Be Doing

Safety Program Management

  • Lead the development, communication and implementation of TransPak's United States safety strategy and approach to reach the goal of zero injuries
  • Lead and support projectbased safety work; regularly communicate with sites to create targeted solutions to challenges
  • Lead the continuous assessment of current practices to identify opportunities to improve workplace safety and eliminate employee exposure to potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Implement process improvement measures through education and training, communication, monitoring, and partnering with managers, Production Leadership, Lean, Quality, HR and COO
  • Establish/Maintain a positive relationship with equipment vendors and coordinate safety improvement opportunities
  • Ensures newhire training and ongoing training promotes safe tool handling, and work practices such as lifting, bending, and use of personal protective equipment follow regulations
  • Update, create and manage all safety programs including but not limited to: Emergency action plan, safety statements, heath and injury illness prevention, drug/alcohol policy and testing guidelines, fleet program, heat illness program, SDS and others as necessary
  • Ensures the adequacy of facilities and environmental factors (e.g. ventilation, lighting, noise, dust, etc.)
  • Leads the Safety Committee across TP sites to promote safe/healthy practices, identify issues and find solutions, further driving cultural alignment with a safety forward focus.
  • Motivates safe practices via tailgate topics, positive recognition and focusofthe month events
  • Implements and sustains videos for warmups and safe tool handling as training tools
  • Contributes articles and data to monthly TPwide newsletter
  • Manages safety recognition program
Accident/Injury Reporting and Investigation and Response

  • Lead in improving workers compensation performance; manage and lead the investigation of accidents and injuries, performing a root cause analysis and prescribing corrective and future preventative action
  • Ensure supervisor followup of preventative or corrective actions are completed timely
  • Manage modified/light duty return to work program and procedures to ensure TransPak complies with regulations at each state level; coordinate with insurance partners as needed to ensure compliance and risk reduction
  • Manages vehicular accidents or property damage reporting
  • Responds and liaises with federal and state agency requests and investigations as needed
  • May work with safety managers from Asia or Europe and incorporates standards from Lean/Six Sigma and Quality/ISO internal standards
Monitoring and Metric Oversight

  • Regularly monitors safety analytics and program metrics to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Oversees the maintenance of recordkeeping (OSHA 300 log) updates days since last injury dashboard
  • Complies and reports monthly metrics (DART, OSHA log trends, etc.) to leadership
  • Participates in insurance captive, and internal reporting meetings (Lytic Driver data, SAMBA) to identify and close gaps in training or education using vendors and resources (e.g. IWINS, IWLA, Don Tucker, Paul Gantt ,etc.)
  • Monitors and oversees all aspects of Lytx (drive dash cam), ensuring events are being coached and follows up on events that show a pattern of poor driving behavior
  • Responsible for monitoring GPS Track it for vehicle data
What We'd Like to See from You

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in environmental or occupational health and safety, psychology, business or related field
  • 35 years' experience in safety coordination, EHS programs or similar relevant continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. 12 years in a leadership preferred
