New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a supervisor gas control to monitor to the gas control function.

Responsible for safe, reliable and efficient operation of our transmission and distribution systems.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Provide supervision to the Federally mandated Control Room Management (CRM) regulations for natural gas pipelines regulated under 49 CFR Part 1
  • The pipeline safety regulations prescribe certain requirements for gas controllers, control rooms, and SCADA systems used to remotely monitor and control pipeline operations.
  • The regulations address human factors engineering and management solutions for the purpose of enhancing the performance reliability of operator personnel that control pipeline operations.
  • Maintain the operation and maintenance of the gas control computer system and gas dispatching function.
  • Prepare monthly activity reports.
  • Provide management and technical guidance to subordinates.
  • Provide for weekly meetings and dialogues.
  • Participate in the daily T&E operation meeting by supplying information detailing what the city gate send out estimate is and weather forecasts, as required.
  • Oversee gas control costs and expenses; monitored monthly.
  • Monitor interruptible use and maximize the availability of interruptible sales with timely meetings with the gas supply area.
  • Enhance gas control training programs to keep gas controllers current with new equipment, software, and pipeline systems.
  • Conduct meetings as changes develop and at the beginning of the heating season.
  • Keep current with new Federal regulations as relating to gas control.
  • Pursue better lines of communications with other related departments such as PM&T, engineering, operations, and contractors at least every other month.
  • Set up field trips to other gas companies, suppliers, and related industries and user groups to develop a closer working relationship and exchange ideas with gas dispatching peers.
  • Plan and make technical assessments of proposed new installations and maintenance work on our natural gas transmission and distribution system as it may relate to or impact gas control.
  • Oversee and provide guidance of adequate inventory of replacement parts and assorted gas control materials without stockpiling huge quantities.
  • Oversee daily gas control activities and maintain all system pressures within established limits and adjust all pressures for seasonal needs.
  • Work during nonscheduled hours when needed.

Position Specifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field, or the combined equivalent in education and experience.
  • At least five years' experience in the gas industry
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and pressure regulation
  • Familiarity with various city gate and pressure measurement stations.
