Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Administrative Director in collaboration with the Associate Chief of Ambulatory Nursing Practice, the Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory Care practices at Lahey Clinic based on the MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and reflects Lahey Clinic's core values that align with its mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care, and accountability are pivotal to providing personalized, high-quality patient care. The Staff Nurse: Ambulatory collaborates with physicians, other healthcare providers, ambulatory support staff, and other disciplines to plan and coordinate patient care delivery.

The Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to deliver expected standards of care, considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate aspects for patients.

The Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory, following the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts Rules & Regulations- 244 CMR 3.0, bears full responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to individuals and groups. Responsibilities encompass health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, restoration of optimal functioning, and ensuring comfort or dignified end-of-life care for those they serve.

The Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory takes charge of the care plan and has the authority to make decisions, being accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The registered nurse coordinates care across the continuum and practices safely in domains such as:

Clinical judgment and decision-making
- Professional relationships
- Clinical leadership
- Clinical scholarship

The Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory stays updated on technical procedures as defined by nursing specialty organizations, complies with regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies, and holds a current registered nurse license in Massachusetts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: including but not limited to:

I. Clinical Judgment and Decision Making: The process by which nurses grasp patient/family issues, attend to relevant information, and respond in caring ways.

Providing safe patient care with organizational skills
Conducting systematic patient and family assessments
Interpreting recorded data and making informed judgments
Developing culturally competent care plans
Delivering age-specific care
Using clinical judgment in decision-making
Evaluating care effectiveness and adapting the plan
Providing necessary physical care, administering medications, and more

II. Professional Relationship: Building relationships based on Lahey Clinic's principles and effective communication, integrating patients' cultural beliefs into care plans.

Establishing professional relationships with colleagues, patients, and families
Educating patients and families about illnesses and treatments
Supporting community-based activities
Collaborating with healthcare providers for quality care

III. Clinical Leadership: Supporting others' development, creating a climate of learning, and demonstrating ethical behavior.

Adhering to unit policies and guidelines
Being a responsive team member
Fulfilling regulatory compliance roles
Serving as a patient advocate

IV. Clinical Scholarship: Enhancing nursing knowledge through experiences, collaboration, and formal education, promoting evidence-based practice.

Upholding quality nursing care standards
Committing to lifelong learning
Practicing evidence-based nursing

Organizational Requirements:

Performing all necessary duties

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of a state-approved School of Nursing

Licensure, Certification, Registration:
- Current RN license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
a. Demonstrates clinical and technical skills as per Nursing Policy and Procedures
b. Possesses interpersonal and organizational skills

Experience: 2 years of acute care medical-surgical experience
