As a therapist with MEDA, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with clients, providing compassionate and evidence-based treatment to support their healing journey.

In this role, you'll conduct comprehensive assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and facilitate therapeutic interventions tailored to each client's unique needs.

Whether it's addressing underlying psychological factors, promoting self-esteem and body liberation, or fostering healthy coping mechanisms, you'll play a vital role in guiding individuals toward lasting recovery.


We're seeking a therapist who is not only clinically skilled but also deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their challenges and triumphs.

Your ability to build trusting relationships, foster resilience, and provide nonjudgmental support will be instrumental in helping clients navigate the complexities of their eating disorder journey.


Compensation:

$57,000 - $72,000 yearly


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct initial assessments to evaluate clients for eating disorders, including an exploration of their eating behaviors, body image concerns, and associated psychological factors.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
  • Provide ongoing individual therapy sessions to address underlying emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns contributing to the eating disorder, as well as any cooccurring conditions (e.g. depression, PTSD, anxiety).
  • Provide group therapy sessions to address a wide range of recovery related issues including but not limited to psychoeducation, skills acquisition, mutual support, body image, trauma, and relationship conflicts.
  • Offer family therapy sessions to address familial dynamics, communication patterns, and support systems that may impact the client's recovery process.
  • Foster a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, cognitivebehavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulnessbased approaches, Psychoeducation, Skills Coaching, and solutionfocused therapy.
  • Monitor clients' progress throughout the course of treatment, regularly reassessing goals and modifying treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, including physicians, dietitians, and other mental health professionals, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients with eating disorders.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during periods of relapse, heightened symptoms, or other acute challenges related to the eating disorder.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential client records, documentation, and progress notes in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest research, developments, and best practices in the field of eating disorder treatment through ongoing professional development and participation in relevant training opportunities.
  • Attend all major MEDA events (e.g. National Conference).

Qualifications:


  • Master's or Doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience providing therapy to individuals with eating disorders in a clinical or counseling setting, preferably with diverse populations and across different levels of care (e.g., outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential)
  • Strong knowledge of eating disorder diagnoses, criteria, and symptomatology, as well as familiarity with cooccurring mental health disorders commonly associated with eating disorders.
  • Ability to effectively utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques in the treatment of eating disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport, build trust, and maintain therapeutic alliances with clients and their families as well as the MEDA team.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in responding to the dynamic and challenging nature of working with clients with eating disorders, including managing crises and relapses.
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations governing mental health practice, with a commitment to upholding professional standards and confidentiality.
