The key responsibilities of the Dean of Students include:

Promote and sustain a safe and supportive school culture that enables students to reach high academic expectations and develop strong character
Develop systems to build upon existing tiered systems of strategies and interventions to support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students
Ensure proper implementation of the bullying intervention and prevention plan
Encourage planning of innovative disciplinary approaches and assist teachers in implementing such efforts when appropriate
Maintain student discipline records, systems, and structures that support a safe learning environment
Develop systems of communication to ensure schoolwide protocols and practices are implemented and followed
Provide supervision of students during noninstructional hours
Oversee student attendance, monitor hallways, and supervise detentions
Plan and implement schoolwide and gradelevel school culture events that promote and maintain a positive school climate and strengthen the school community
Assist in scheduling student activities
Organize and supervise field trips when necessary
Effectively and proactively communicate with all families to ensure positive school/home partnerships
Assist in student services and operations on a daytoday basis
Manage support services including transportation and food services
Convey the school's mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission
Model the school's values and standards for professional behavior at all times
Perform other duties as necessary as assigned by the Executive Director
