The Department of Children, Youth & Family in Waterloo, IL is seeking a
Speech Therapist to join our team for the early intervention of preschool-aged children
immediately.

Part-time and occasional positions are also available.

Early detection and intervention provide the opportunity to address developmental delays, prevent disabilities, or mitigate the effects of disabilities.

In early intervention, we work with parents and support children who were born prematurely, develop slower or differently than their peers, are unusually quiet or restless, lack confidence or give up easily, are insecure in their movements, have difficulty speaking clearly, or were born with a disability.


Your responsibilities

  • Conducting individual and group speech therapy within the framework of interdisciplinary early intervention
  • Conducting and evaluating diagnostic procedures as part of initial, progress, and final assessments
  • Documentation (also possible from home)
  • Collaboration in an interdisciplinary team of special education teachers, motor therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, pediatricians, psychologists, and administrative staff

Your profile

  • Statecertified speech therapist
  • Several years of experience in early intervention preferred
  • Indepth knowledge of diagnostic procedures
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary support for disabled and atrisk children
  • Knowledge of Castillo Morales, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, further training in oral, eating, and swallowing therapy
  • Physical resilience
  • Empathetic and resourceoriented attitude
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with Windows and MS Office, and experience with databases
