    Job Summary
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Advising, the Academic Advisor is responsible for the advising and retention initiatives and activities for all the college's students. The Academic Advisor is also responsible for representing the College at campus functions such as orientations, open houses, as well as coordinating and managing programs, which require interdepartmental collaborations.
  • This position may also instruct Academic Success Courses.

    Minimum Qualifications
-
Master's degree.

  • Prior advising experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including public speaking.
  • Strong written communication skills and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of counseling and student development theory or equivalent experience.
  • General working knowledge of academic vocabulary and requirements.
  • Effective organizational skills with versatility and problemsolving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, public administration, or higher education.
  • Prior advising experience in a college or university setting.
  • Experience with academic programing and/or teaching.
