    Position Purpose

    The WIC Nutritionist is responsible to assess, identify and manage the nutritional needs of women, infants and, including prescribing and tailoring supplemental food packages and providing nutrition counseling to persons of various social and children economic groups.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Conduct certification and re-certification interviews with WIC applicants within established time frames, in compliance with all program policies and regulations using the system of record
    • Determine program eligibility through income verification, hematological testing, anthropometric measurements, dietary assessment and nutrition risk assignment
    • Maintain proficiency in hematological procedures and pass proficiency test. Adhere strictly to standard precautions
    • Develop and manage individualized care plans that address participants' nutritional needs
    • Address special needs of high risk participants using a high risk care plan
    • Apply guided goal setting techniques to provide nutrition education/counseling based on identified nutritional risk

    Education & Certification & Related Work Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or home economics (with emphasis in nutrition or dietetics) required
    • WIC experience preferred
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
