The Controls Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and improving all control aspects of the testing focused factory and the test equipment they are responsible for.
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for both manual and automated Test Stands, driving process improvements consistently. A key aspect of this position is a strong commitment to continuous improvement annually.Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct reports.
Will be expected to be a mentor to work closely with the Test focused factory as well as the automation group within Maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Own the Controls function supporting all testing area projects through full implementation.
Ability to support the controls function of the availability and capability of shop floor test equipment including automationUnderstand where producibility issues lie, based on data, and address them with controls solutions in a timely manner.
Regularly use internal machine availability information available through Machine Metrics, understand the biggest issues based on data and proactively work to address them working within the testing focused factory.
Provide controls guidance to Assembly and Machining focused factories and other areas in Technical Services as needed.Participate on multifunctional PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) teams QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities:
Willingness and proven ability to work on control software and learn new applications as needed.
Strong software debugging skills, irrespective of the platformStrong project management skills, including ability to manage several large projects at onceStrong problem-solving skills including the determination of root cause and implementing and controlling solutionsStrong ability to present technical informationStrong conceptual skillsSuperior quality focusSelf-driven, positive attitude and team player Demonstrates effective communication skills Willingness to learn all aspects described above by way of on-the-job trainingEducation and Experience:BSME/BSMET/BSIE requiredKnowledge in the following areas is required:Computer programming experience (ladder logic, structured text, Factory talk, visual basic/studio).Knowledge of how PLCs work and PLC programming competency.
OPC/cloud database knowledge.Electrical experience knowledge of circuit breakers, AC motor starters/contactors, power supplies, V=IR/Ohm's law, etc.5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with focus on Controls preferredKnowledge of hydraulic circuits is preferred.
Understanding of GD&T and ability to read prints and other technical product documents including test procedures, electrical schematics and BOMsSuperior computer skills, with experience in Autodesk 3-D design software a plusPhysical Requirements:
