Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is a plus

Responsibilities:


What You Will Do:


  • Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines. Obtain visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and testing, when required.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, and other procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record; Ensure that letters are prepared to all physicians involved in a patient's care, and with all copies of pertinent reports or tests attached. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests. Provide necessary patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
  • Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre and postoperative instructions as directed by physician.
  • Follow all safety procedures as per guidelines.
  • Traveling between locations is required.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Outlook).

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • One year of specialized ophthalmic experience is desirable or completion of onthejob training upon hiring.
  • Experience as a scribe is preferred.
  • Experience as an ophthalmic technician is a PLUS
