- Transition successfully to a competent practitioner

- Incorporate research-based evidence into practice.
- Projected to graduate (or already graduated) from an accredited College/University and/or have less than 12 months of RN experience.
- Possess a valid Connecticut RN license before start of program (you must possess your RN license number the Monday before the Hospital Orientation start date.)
- A mixture of computer-based and classroom-based learning, as well as state-of-the-art simulation learning.
- The program focuses on practice-based learning utilizing simulation and skills lab, quality and safety for people centered care, evidence-based practice with implementation of an evidence-based practice project, and professional development and leadership.
- As a float RN, you will have the ability to work in all areas of the hospital and gain a vast experience in Nursing. Float RN's Develop strong colleague relationships that promote career growth. Float RN's have strong managerial and administrative support on all shifts.

At St. Mary's Hospital the Float team RNs could work in various Nursing Departments.
These Nursing Departments include all Medical-Surgical units which are Sacred Heart 5 (SH5), O'Brien 4 (OB4), and O'Brien 7 (OB7).
Float RN's may also work in Critical Care and the Emergency Department with additional training.
The 12-month Nurse Residency Program at Saint Mary's Hospital is designed for Registered Nurses with less than 1 year experience to expand the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a Registered Nurse to move from entry-level competence toward proficiency and expertise.
