Description

Position Summary-The union payroll administrator position is accountable for collecting timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of deductions into a periodic payroll, and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees, as well as completing monthly reporting to appropriate union and labor agencies.


_Essential Duties and Responsibilities_

  • Secondary contact for new and potential employees
  • Collect and process new employee paperwork
  • Maintain all payroll and union records
  • Collect and summarize timekeeping information
  • Obtain supervisory approval of timecard discrepancies
  • Process garnishment requests
  • Process employee advances and paybacks
  • Process and close weekly payrolls
  • Print and issue paychecks
  • Process direct deposit payments
  • Calculate and deposit payroll taxes
  • Process all union paperwork and reporting
  • Assist with Certified Payroll as needed
  • Experience with the Department of Industrial Relations and prevailing wage is required

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
A High School Diploma and 2 years of union payroll and reporting is required.


Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.


Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and Google.


Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications required.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct reports.


Work Environment:
The department works primarily at their desks most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel.

The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for up to 12 hours per day.
