The Kasson-Mantorville School District No. 204 is seeking a Middle School Counselor who will serve students in grades 5-8 at Kasson-Mantorville Middle School.

Kasson-Mantorville Middle School is seeking to hire a passionate, talented, and dedicated full-time (1.0 FTE) licensed school counselor. The ideal candidate would be an innovative team player who believes in the value of building relationships with all students, has strong counseling knowledge, and is committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all learners. We seek a dynamic individual to collaborate with our already strong Kasson-Mantorville Middle School team.

We are located between the cities of Kasson and Mantorville. Kasson is the home of a vibrant downtown district and Mantorville is known for its historic presence in SE Minnesota. The communities are fifteen minutes from downtown Rochester, home of the Mayo Clinic and IBM, and approximately one hour south of the Twin Cities.

Kasson-Mantorville is a growing school district of 2,100 students with numerous co-curricular and extracurricular programs and club opportunities.

TITLE: K-12 School Counselor

CLASSIFICATION:

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Requires valid MN School Counseling License

2. Experience working in a school setting (preferred)

REPORTS TO: Building Principals

JOB GOAL: The School Counselor will:

Provide one to one, small group, large group, and grade level leadership in all matters of social-emotional learning.
Demonstrate leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students and staff.
Understand research based counseling strategies and effectively implement them in order to support student social-emotional development and wellbeing.

Performance Responsibilities:

Implement a comprehensive, school counseling program assisting students in meeting their academic, career social-emotional and mental health needs
Plan and deliver whole group social-emotional lessons
Conduct individual and/or small group counseling sessions, which will allow students to examine situations or concerns within a confidential setting
Consult with teachers, parents, and other outside agencies, when appropriate, to help facilitate an organized plan to meet student needs
Provide resources and referral services for teachers and parents
Report any suspected abuse or neglect to county social services or law enforcement
Provide student and/or parent referrals to outside agencies when emotional or mental health needs exceed the limits of school counseling services and time limitations
Serve as School Linked Mental Health District Liaison, in addition to other assigned agencies.
Professionally collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, and stakeholders
Maintain active committee membership of building problem-solving teams and provide tiered behavioral supports as needed
District Crisis Response Team Core Member- Assist in coordinating the crisis plan and delivering crisis response and intervention services to students, families, and staff, as needed
District Wellness Committee Core Member
Serve on the committee for Student Concerns and Attendance Review
Demonstrate knowledge regarding district policies and the master agreement.
Assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
Teach Classroom Guidance in collaboration with grade level teachers.
Provide 1:1 and small group services to help improve social skills, life skills, and emotional regulation.
Participate as PBIS Lead for KMMS; share and develop strategies for staff to support behavioral modification.
Serve as a Problem Solving Team representative for a specific grade level.
Review Social-Emotional-Behavioral data points to drive interventions and/or programming.
