:Building & Grounds Technician

Description:

Performs semiskilled work in a variety of building and grounds maintenance and repair assignments, and related work as assigned.

Perform general repairs and maintenance as relaBuited to waste collection, landscape, janitorial, snow removal, preventative/facility maintenance, operate sanitation equipment and water and sewer repair work and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with collection of heavy trash, leaf collection and biodegradable pick up;
• Assist with landscaperelated duties for ground maintenance such as mowing grass, edging sidewalks and curbs, operating weed trimmers, trim trees and shrubs;
• Assist with setup, tear down, and janitorial work related to special events;
• Assist with snow removal and ice control;
• Assist with preventive maintenance on equipment and facility maintenance; performing corrective and preventive maintanance and repiars as needed;
• Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment in sanitation, water and sewer repair work;
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of the Town's water and sewer system;
• Receiving and responding to work orders and requests from the management team;
• Required to be available to work outside normal work hours in oncall status and in emergency callback incidents.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred;
• Minimal experience in custodial and building maintenance work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire.
• Experience in lawn and street maintenance, and water & sewer construction & repair is preferred.
• A current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred at time of hire. Obtaining a CDL will be required within six months of hiring date.

Pay:
$31, $50,564.00 per year
