Job DescriptionNortheast Treatment Center, (The NET), one of the largest behavioral health and social service agencies in the Philadelphia Region, is in immediate need of full or part time Behavioral Health Assistants for the following shifts: 7-3, 3-11 or 11-7.
At our 23 hour Observation and Ambulatory Detox Center for Opioid users, located at 5th& Spring Garden Streets in Philadelphia, PA, the Behavioral Health Assistant (BHA) provides supportive services to behavioral healthcare clients in a manner that directly supplements the treatment services being provided by NET to promote the ongoing recovery and improvement in the life of the consumer. The BHA also acts together with direct care staff in working with consumers to promote the recovery management approach to treatment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma and/or GED is recommended.
Prior work experience in a drug & alcohol setting is preferred.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
The BHA will meet all other minimum requirements of the agency as identified in NET's policies and procedure.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
The BHA must receive annually 25 hours of in-service training in areas supportive of the skill development required by NET. One half of these hours must be attained from resources outside of NET. Additionally, the BHA must receive 10 hours of training on HIV, STDs, and TB as well as 6 hours of Confidentiality training.
The BHA must demonstrate genuine empathy and concern for individuals as indicated in our corporate vision, mission, and values statements. The BHA must adhere to applicable state and federal laws and regulations, CBH licensure and CARF standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide consumer services in order to facilitate treatment progress
Work directly with the consumers to ensure attendance and participation in treatment, and will assist the consumer, when necessary, in obtaining the basic documents (such as proper identification, etc.).
Assist consumers as needed or directed in areas of life skills/goals such as attending to primary healthcare needs, managing money, time management, fulfilling criminal justice responsibilities, etc.
Act as a liaison for the consumer by reporting progress with life management issues to appropriate sources as evidenced by status in recovery house residence, status in treatment, criminal justice status to the extent authorized in signature by the consumer.
Direct availability le to assigned consumers as a resource during periods of crisis in order to direct consumers to established support systems such as 12-step meetings, crisis response centers, etc.
Serve to direct the consumer in utilizing established community services such as public assistance, vocational preparation, transportation assistance, clothing programs, etc.
NET will require you to have the following clearances within the last 12 months:
· PA Child Abuse
· FBI
· PA State Criminal
· If you have not resided in the state of PA for the past 5 years, you will be required to provide a Child Abuse clearance from your state of residence in addition to a PA Child Abuse clearance.
· Current CPR certification preferred
· TB test required
· Health Assessment within the last 12 months required
