Job Summary


The Commodity Manager - Aluminum Coil & Commercial Metals is a high visibility role, responsible for managing the sourcing and supply strategy for Aluminum Coil & Commercial Metals across all sites in the Americas.

The Commodity Manager will partner with both Functional leadership and Operations leadership to develop strategies for the supply of Aluminum Coil, Structural Steel, Structural Stainless Steel and other related products or services.

The Commodity Manager will work with cross-functional teams from Operations and Finance to drive the sourcing and negotiation of Aluminum Coil & Commercial Metals supporting CST's operations in the Americas.

The Commodity Manager will drive analytics to identify ways to minimize "total costs of ownership" (TCO) while maximizing service; manage the relationships and performance with the strategic suppliers in these commodities; and develop partnerships with those core firms that truly support CST's needs.


Responsibilities:


  • Interact with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Production Control, and other functional areas in each division/unit to develop and implement commodity strategies which deliver target performance levels at optimum overall costs.
  • Work across divisions/units to identify opportunities for synergy and drive program implementation.
  • Lead the development of RFQs, drive analytics and TCO comparisons, and drive the implementation of projects/strategies for Aluminum Coil, Structural Steel, Structural Stainless Steel, and other related products or services.
  • Roll up your sleeves, partner with operations management, and marshal supplier resources to drive results.
  • Develop and negotiate vendor contracts to drive performance, secure productivity commitments, and protect CST against risks.
  • Assist / guide the various CST business units with systemic supplier performance issues and engage supplier executives as needed.
  • Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, service, and cost) and drive improvement activities.
  • Conduct business reviews with the core suppliers to ensure they are meeting CST's outlined service requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between strategic sourcing department and management to deliver proper specifications, quotes, products, costs, and delivery terms.
  • Participate in strategic sourcing initiatives to align negotiations, new supplier selection, and overall Supply Chain strategy.
  • Manage, develop, and coach a team of Commodity Buyer(s)
  • Participate and support SIOP process as developed.
  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 25%) to engage stakeholders and drive programs.
  • Other duties as requested.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related discipline or experience; MBA or Post-Graduate education preferred.
  • 510 years of experience in Procurement and Sourcing, preferably at companies with strong Strategic Sourcing disciplines.
  • Manufacturing operations background, with shop floor experience preferred.
  • Experience managing Aluminum Coil, Structural Steel, Structural Stainless Steel, and other related products or services, and engaging with senior executive leadership.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders, from the President to the hourly associate.
  • Deep experience in contract negotiations, cost modeling, and value chain analysis.
  • Experience in multisite operations preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative, openminded, and flexible.
  • Leader persuasive, tactful, purposeful but with empathy.
  • Business minded with focus on improving and simplifying processes.
  • Results driven.
  • Microsoft Dynamics D365 working knowledge desirable.
  • Strong MSOffice (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills.
