About us and Job Description
Premium Supermarkets is a leading ethnic Supermarket business in Queens, NY.

Our goal is to have an HR Officer, who will assist with the management of the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) and Recruitment departments including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Will split time between our Supermarkets and Restaurants.


Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of employmentrelated laws and regulations (Federal and New York states)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HR related software and talent management systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of check and verification of weekly salaries, time sheets and pay stubs.
  • Sense of risk management and proactive attitude toward risk mitigation of HR matters
  • Critical thinking and creative problemsolving skills combined with sound judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent maintenance of Personal Files of employees.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with all employees and senior management team (SMT).
  • Strong integrity, ethics and emotional control

  • 3 + years experience with recruitment and onboarding

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Will split time between our Supermarkets and Restaurant offices
  • Assists with all onboarding activities as and when required
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety;
  • Conduct annual employee performance evaluations.
  • Handles employmentrelated inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Ensures adherence with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Handles and prioritizes multiple ranges of advanced administrative duties with wide latitude for independent judgment and initiative
  • In conjunction with SMT, develops and maintains general familiarity with immigration and recertification process and responds to inquiries related to immigration and recertification
  • Assists with identifying issues affecting onboarding and implementing onboarding activities to continuously improve process
  • Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met

Minimum Qualifications, or related experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field experience required
