Position Summary:


The Schedule/Biller is responsible for all Perioperative Services patient procedure scheduling and billing with support from the Lead OR Scheduler/Biller.

This position will answer related questions, maintain, track, and correct all errors within the scheduling and billing office. Reviews and recommends charge code appropriateness and additions to the Lead Scheduler/Biller. Additionally, coordinates and facilitates communication between self, providers, patients, and sales representatives to ensure patient procedures are successfully completed.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to properly manage time to meet the needs of phone volume and work queues with flexibility of scheduled shifts. (this position is not a set schedule position M-F, schedule is based on need of the department.
  • Schedule cases within approved block times and filling open and unused block to maximize OR volume and efficiency.
  • Evaluate daily case flow within the OR, anticipating potential issues and correcting or communicating concern to OR leadership.
  • Bill and finalize patient OR charges for each case while identifying missed charges and making appropriate updates as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Review and make recommendations for appropriate procedure charge code use. Investigate errors as needed.
  • Functions as a trainer for new and existing staff.
  • Must attend meetings for departments serviced by the Scheduling Center, includes traveling to locations and attending department meetings as requested.
  • Responsible for ensuring scheduling rules and guidelines are up to date; obtaining and directing information to leadership to update within SupportPoint.
  • Reviewing provider schedules to prevent errors and directing any necessary build changes to leadership.
  • Working with leadership to implement Epic enhancements to simplify and optimize processes.
