Description
Under the administrative direction of the Deputy District Director of Administration (DDDA), the Discipline Services Manager, a Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) (Specialist) provides detailed advice and technical guidance to managers and supervisors regarding complex and sensitive disciplinary issues, policy implementation, and employee progressive discipline.
Establishes internal policies and procedures and implements same to ensure activities are performed consistent with departmental program goals.The Discipline Services Manager assists with and performs investigations involving ethics and other claims/complaints; ensures timeliness of investigations and delivery; ensures that the highest legal and ethical standards are met; and may represent the District as settlement authority in administrative law hearings.

Working Conditions
Position located in Oakland, Alameda County.
This incumbent will work in a workstation, in a climate controlled office under artificial lighting. Periodic problems with heating and air conditioning may cause the temperature and air flow within the building to fluctuate. Employee may be required to travel in state, but the travel would be very infrequent. Overtime may be required to accomplish projects with short deadlines, and vacations may be restricted during peak times.
