5J Transportation is growing and looking for a full-time Inventory Supervisor and Dispatcher to join our team in our Houston, TX officeResponsibilities:
- Review, edit, and approve payroll for yard employees
- Supervise hours for yard employees and temporary workers
- Plan/delegate duties for yard employees for the day/week
- Conduct weekly meetings with yard personnel to discuss workflow (including addressing any problems and resolving any issues)
- Check trucks in and out for shipping and receiving
- Process data entry for material going in and out of inventory and keeping system up to date
- Assist customers with inventory questions and address customer needs
- Send out EOM Reports for storage billing
- Maintain asset inventory
- Print and prepare orders for yard to prepull and stage material for shipping
- Dispatch loads to drivers, sends BOL's, and load drivers' cards for initial pick up
- Communicate with drivers during transportation and finalizes loads once signed BOL is received and closes out load including driver pay
- Send BOL's to accounting department for final billing once loads are closed out
- Assist drivers with information and directions
- Update dispatch board and ensure everyone has the needed information
- Service customers for their logistic needs
- Maintain direct communication with customer from beginning to end of deliveries
- Order entry in McLeod system for dispatch and billing (consists of following through from order entry, to updating and completing orders for billing)
- Assist accounting w/vendor payment status and invoicing corrections as needed
- Proactively follow up on jobs and system to ensure billing is being completed in a timely manner and to ensure all is posted for EOMs
- Approve invoices for accounting department
- Manage any yard issues that arise and ensure billing is completed for yard storage/yard parking
- Greet and assist visitors
- Answer and direct company phone line
- Assist with quoting of legal flatbed loads
- Accept loads from customer portals and enter load data on the webbased load board
- Daily communication with customers and drivers
- Assist with driver compliance
- Assist with all required reporting and paperwork
- Communicate driver or customers issues/concerns to management
- Special projects, as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in the transportation industry is a plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently
