CARES seeks a full-time self-motivated individual to join our human trafficking specific team as an outreach and support specialist. As part of our CARES team, you will work both directly with vulnerable and underserved communities and with system partners to increase awareness and access to human trafficking support services. This is a relationship focused position, requiring strong interpersonal skills, the ability to empathize with people of greatly varied experiences and an appreciation for community centered solutions. Our ideal candidate has lived experience in the communities we serve in the Austin and Central Texas area. However, experience and community involvement can substitute for education in many cases. CARES provides advocacy, case management, and drop in services to at risk or confirmed individuals up to age 22 in Central Texas using trauma informed, trust based curriculum. **This job is grant-funded for 2 years with the possibility of renewal.**

The SAFE Alliance grew out of the courageous work of the Center for Battered Women, the Austin Rape Crisis Center, and the Austin Childrens Shelter, all respected, women-led human service agencies created by volunteers and informed by survivors who needed support, safety and justice.

With over 30 programs and 400 staff, we have been serving the Austin community and beyond for over 30 years.

**About this position:**

We need you to fill the role of Outreach and Support Specialist. This is a FULL TIME, EXEMPT position primarily housed at our Lizas House location. There is also an expectation for some travel and work with various organizations, and partners in Austin and surrounding areas. We will pay you an annual salary of $41,000-$43,000

**Key Duties:**

Leads, develops and offers trainings on the CARES program and human trafficking offerings including coordinating and completing logistics of training for community partners.

Demonstrates ability to manage emotions and perform in high pressure and/or crisis situation with calm, care, and unconditional positive regard for families and children.

Work in partnership with the communications department to create outreach material to clients and partners in the community. Distribute outreach materials widely.

Develop and occasionally lead team meetings regarding updates or requesting feedback pertaining to the CARES mission and outreach activities.

Seeks opportunities, events and community partners to connect CARES in an effort to grow and expand our outreach efforts.

Participates in outreach events that may include street outreach and working with the clients we serve directly.

Identify and foster relationships with new and existing community leaders and organizers.

Support ongoing community programs with logistical and material coordination.

Recognize emerging issues in the field and create and maintain outreach frameworks for community organizers .

Develop and lead educational programs designed to improve community capacity to address and respond to human trafficking.

**Qualifications:**

Bachelors degree, in related field preferred; experience can be substituted for degree.

Two to four years of experience in working with Human Trafficking population strongly preferred.

Training in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) strongly preferred.

Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.

Bilingual preferred.

Creative and highly organized in planning.

Lived experience within the communities we serve in the Austin and Central Texas Area.

Able to work independently or within a team structure.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.

Experience facilitating large groups and seminars.

Ability to foster emerging leadership
