Position Overview:


The Data Entry Specialist role is responsible for entering in data from medical claim forms into in-house databases and other electronic record keeping systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately enter medical claim forms (HCFA1500/UB04) into the inhouse database and vendor web tools
  • Serve as a backup for scanning and provider service intake processes
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned
  • Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to company privacy standards

Technical Skills / Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of key medical claims billing information required for entry into CMS and the ability to locate this information on claim forms (HCFA1500/UB04)
  • Detailoriented with a strong focus on accuracy to prevent future delays and errors due to typos or missing information
  • Thorough knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures

Independence / Accountability:

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions on assignments
  • Regularly review goals and objectives with a supervisor
  • Maintains a professional manner and respects the confidentiality of administrative matters and files
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience within the healthcare industry preferred
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and Internet Explorer
  • Strong prioritizing and organizational skills
  • Excellent typing and data entry skills
