Duties

This position is located under the Human Resource and Professional Development, Executive/Supervisory Staffing Center in Washington, District of Columbia.


The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical guidance and/or policy support to all bureau management personnel in the combination of the following functions: recruitment and placement, accountability, and compensation.

The incumbent represents the team and bureau on Department of Justice (DOJ) and other internal and external work teams.

As a Lead Human Resources Specialist, GS , your typical work assignments may include:

  • Provides technical guidance and/or policy support to all bureau management personnel in the following functions: recruitment and placement, accountability, and compensation.
  • Represents the team and bureau on Department of Justice (DOJ) and other internal and external work teams.
  • Administers a bureauwide recruitment program to include merit promotion, delegated examining, student employment, availability pay, and policy.
  • Advises and assist management on matters pertaining to recruitment, placement, promotions, reassignments, details, and reductioninforce procedures and employment in general.
  • Manages the work flow, liaises with the Supervisor, mentors the team, and ensures technical work aligns with the strategic mission of HROD.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.


MOBILITY PLAN:

Key Requirements:

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
May be required to serve a one year probationary period.


Qualifications:


Additional Conditions of Employment:

GS-1- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
Reviews work for legal and technical compliance, and provides guidance and training to HR professionals in the areas of staffing and recruiting;
Advises management on use of recruitment flexibilities, hiring authorities and different hiring strategies;
Advises on, and continuously reviews a wide range of HR principles, including complex pay and leave policies.
Pulls data to review for compliance in the areas of staffing, classification, performance management, awards, and training.


Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
