Tax Accountant

General Summary:


Objectives of this role:


  • Ensure that the organization produces and delivers tax reports to tax authorities in a timely fashion
  • Assist with shaping the organization's financial management strategies
  • Identify tax savings opportunities
  • Advise and update Executive Management of all tax operations and concerns
  • Follow and educate colleagues on current tax regulations and industry trends
  • Assist in other tax projects such as ERC or streamlining current processes.
  • Align Daily Instrument's tax presence with all legal rules, regulations and ethical conduct

Essential Job Functions:


  • Prepare tax provisions schedules, returns, payments, reports and maintain a company's tax database
  • Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
  • Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve profits
  • Use accounting procedures to identify any potential risks for fraud
  • Make sure that the organization complies with federal, state and local tax regulations
  • Advise Executive Management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
  • Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work
  • Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports
  • Keep uptodate with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications.

Job Qualifications:


  • 35 years tax accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or public tax experience
  • Thorough understanding of current tax laws, rules, and regulations (sales, federal, state, city, payroll, corporate, franchise, etc.)
  • Proven trackrecord of extensive, uptodate bookkeeping abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting software packages; as well as ERP or SAP, manufacturing/inventory software
  • Excellent accounting skills, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Project Management skills, with fluid priorities
  • Sharp numeracy, arithmetic abilities
  • Deep analytical thinking skills for solving difficult problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy
  • High degree of computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Possession of a professional license (ex: certified public accountant license in the United States)
  • Significant experience overseeing an organization's tax documentation
  • Selfdriven initiative to respond to fluid work environment and rapidly changing priorities
  • Enthusiastic team player, Creative thinker, focus on bottomline results while managing for Total Quality Assurance Compliance

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer other than current employer
  • Must be fluent in English with ability to communicate highly technical terms/ideas; any other language skills are beneficial]
  • This is primarily a sedentary position, but may require the physical ability to work in a busy shop/warehouse environment including sitting, standing, lifting/moving up to 20 pounds, infrequently.
