Minimum Qualifications

Non-Competitive:

Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.


Substitution:

A bachelor's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to actively participate on an interdisciplinary team, accept constructive criticism, and display constant professionalism as a representative of the Department; excellent interview, observational, and writing skills, and an ability to translate collected information into legally defensible reports; and experience with the aged and aging population, especially in the provision of direct patient care as a human services or clinical professional, and an ability to appreciate how the aging process affects outcomes; and flexibility and dedication.

This position requires travel at times to areas unserved by public transit.
The incumbent must pass the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Certification Test (SMQT) within 1 year of appointment.
Non-competitive appointment via the HELP program.

Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($81,720 - $91,381), plus an additional geographic pay differential of $20,000.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
