    JOBSUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

    REPORTSTO: Manager – Food Service

    DEPARTMENTNAME: Food & Nutrition Services

    JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Receives and disburses money by sellingfood to students and staff. Responsiblefor operating the cash register and maintaining the serving line. Works under general supervision according tosome procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks.

    PRIMARYJOB FUNCTIONS: List, inthe order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional dutiesby management as required.

    Job Responsibility 1:

    Receives payment by cash, vouchers, or automatic debits. Issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.

    Job Responsibility 2:

    Assists with preparation and packaging of food items; ensures food temperature and portion sizes are appropriate.

    Job Responsibility 3:

    Stocks and rotates food items displayed for sale on the serving line.

    Job Responsibility 4:

    Maintains clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties, such as cleaning serving area and storing unused food items. Stocks shelves and marks prices.

    Job Responsibility 5:

    Answers customers' questions, and provides information on procedures or policies.

    Job Responsibility 6:

    Assists customers by providing information and resolving their complaints. Processes returns and exchanges.

    Job Responsibility 7:

    Identifies prices of goods and tabulates bills using cash registers or optical price scanners.

    Job Responsibility 8:

    Balances sales to monies receives. Completes reports.

    COMPLEXITY OFWORK : " Complexityof Work" addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, andconcentration required by the position and the presence of any unusualpressures.

    Performssemi-routine work following procedures, with occasional problems; requiresnormal attention for accurate results.

    IMPACT OFDECISIONS : " Impact of Decisions" refers toconsequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure ofthe organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals.

    Makesdecisions with minor impact - affects only those in immediate work area.

    EQUIPMENT USAGE : "EquipmentUsage" refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines,tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physicalcharacteristics.

    Requiresthree months of related experience including working with customers. Must haveknowledge of arithmetic to solve problems.
