Vocational Evaluator/Counselor
JVS is actively recruiting a full-time Vocational Evaluator/Counselor to join our esteemed team at our Montclair Facility.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, this position is responsible for providing vocational assessments to individuals who have disabilities to assist in determining vocational strengths which will be used for career planning.

In addition, responsibilities include providing vocational counseling and assistance to program participants, running in-house groups on a variety of topics, maintaining accurate records and being able to write detailed reports documenting activities.

Essential Functions

• Performs vocational evaluations including administration, interpretation and reporting of standardized work sample systems and vocational tests. Assessments are performed at JVS, at High Schools and at employment sites in the community.
• Manages a small caseload of program participants, tracks and records their progress through program phases.
• Provides intake interviews to program participants and orients them to the JVS program.
• Counsels participants and family members regarding the individual's vocational goals, educational preparation, employment opportunities, job adjustment and job placement concerns.
• Prepares and submits, in a timely manner, comprehensive written evaluation and progress reports with recommendations related to the participant's vocational and behavioral performance.
• Orients participants to the labor market and helps them identify career and job opportunities.
• Provides liaison with referral sources and reports to them as appropriate.
• Refers participants to various service providers in the community depending on participant needs and coordinates services with other service providers if needed.
• Assists with transportation needs and sets up travel training when needed.
• Represents the agency in various community forums and responds to inquiries regarding program.
• Assists the Associate Director of Vocational Rehabilitation Services in maintaining and preparing all necessary data required by funders and government agencies.
• Participates in preparations for CARF accreditation as needed.
• Performs other duties consistent with program needs and not calling for materially different skills.

Qualifications
& Experience

• Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Counseling, Psychology and/or related fields.
• Experience in providing counseling services to people with disabilities.
• Experience with assisting clients with skill building and community based activities.
• Strong verbal, writing and computer skills. Must have a strong background in running group activities.

Travel
Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation as this is required for this position.

$45,000.00 per year
