    Job Description:


    The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville (UF COM-J) seeks a part-time to full-time faculty member at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.

    The faculty member's primary assignment will be with the University of Florida Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Service (UF CARES) at the UF COM-J.

    UF CARES is the only comprehensive HIV program in north Florida serving adults, adolescents, children and pregnant women.

    Care is provided with a multidisciplinary philosophy and includes medical, mental health, substance abuse, social service, case management, advocacy, nutritional counseling, and pharmacology services all at one place.

    UF CARES is recognized as patient centered medical home by NCQA and is an NIH funded research site. Responsibilities will include providing primary care for adults in the outpatient setting with no inpatient responsibilities.


    This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology and the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.


    This position's primary assignment will be with the University of Florida Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Services (UF CARES).

    Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:


    • Providing primary care for adults in the outpatient setting with no inpatient responsibilities.
    • Provide and maintain a high level of quality patient care in all aspects of Infectious Diseases.
    • Provide clinical teaching of trainees (residents, fellows, medical students) and participate in the educational programs.
    • Participate in monthly division/department meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.


    The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three colleges at the Health Science Center Jacksonville.

    The college is affiliated with UF Health in Jacksonville, a health system comprised of two hospitals - the 603-bed UF Health Jacksonville and 92-bed UF Health North - and more than 60 primary and specialty care practices throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.


    The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 440 faculty members, 1,560 staff and 384 residents and fellows, as well as medical students from UF and around the country.

    We offer an incredible breadth of clinical training program sand proud to train many of best primary care providers and specialists throughout the region, the state and the country.

    The college offers 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 non-standard programs. More than 100 residents and fellows from programs across the U.S. come to UF College of Medicine - Jacksonville to participate in various clinical rotations as well.


    In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville.

    Third-year medical students enrolled at UF spend about 25 percent of their training at the Jacksonville campus, gaining valuable experience in an urban setting.

    While third-year rotations are only offered to UF students, elective rotations in the final year of clinical training are available to students from accredited schools in the US and Canada.


    For practicing physicians, the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields.

    The college's faculty, residents and fellows are active in clinical research. Residents and fellows regularly present their findings at locations across the country and publish their projects in well-known publications. In 2019, the campus received $23.1 million in external research funding, approximately 50% of which was federally sponsored projects.

    The campus houses a 16,000-square-foot clinical and translational research facility.

    To support faculty and resident research, the college has a Center for Data Solutions, offering researchers analytics, epidemiology and biostatistics support, and a Center for Research Training, helping develop the next generation of highly collaborative clinical researchers.

    Located in the Northeastern part of the state on the Atlantic Ocean, Jacksonville's weather is sunny and pleasant. We enjoy an average of 320 days of sunshine each year, yet have the coolest summers in the state.

    Minimum Requirements:


    The successful candidate will have a MD/DO degree and be board certified/board eligible in family practice, internal medicine or infectious diseases with eligibility for Florida licensure.

    Candidate must have experience in care of HIV infected adults, and HIV infected and exposed children, and have experience in managing an HIV perinatal prevention program.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    At least five years' experience in the field of HIV clinical medicine is required. Administrative and supervisory experience is preferred.
