The German Center for Astrophysics (DZA) is a new major research center being established in the Lausitz region.

The decision to establish the center was made as part of the competition "Knowledge Creates Perspectives", which was announced by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Free State of Saxony as part of the Structural Strengthening Act to support regions affected by the coal phase-out.

As a visible symbol of innovation, the DZA will
