About FCAA:

Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) is a philanthropy-serving organization (PSO) formed by a network of funders in 1987 to take bold actions and push philanthropy to respond to HIV and AIDS.

FCAA's mission is to inform, connect and support philanthropy to mobilize resources to end the global HIV pandemic and build the social, political, and economic commitments necessary to attain health, human rights, and justice for all.++As a global network of funders, FCAA welcomes diverse perspectives, facilitates open communication and debate, and promotes racial and gender equity and all human rights.

FCAA's 14-member Board of Directors are currently based in five countries: France, Kenya, the Netherlands, the UK, and the United States.

FCAA currently lists more than 50 grantmaking institutions as members that collectively accounted for half of total HIV-related grantmaking in 2021.

FCAA also works with many other philanthropy-serving organizations to inform, connect, and support philanthropy on intersecting issues.

The funders that lead and participate in FCAA have extensive experience, perspective, and commitment in responding to pandemics and the consequences for marginalized and inadequately served populations.

Overview of the Position:

For close to 40 years, FCAA has served as the preeminent source of information and expertise on the field of HIV-related philanthropy.

Through its signature resource tracking publication - _Philanthropic Support to Address HIV and AIDS - _FCAA has documented trends in the philanthropic response.

The Research Associate will play an essential role in increasing the organization's capacity for research and analysis in support of FCAA's signature resource tracking efforts.

This effort is critical to help FCAA to transform philanthropic practices, and move resources that effectively support communities impacted by HIV globally.


Research Duties:


  • Support research on HIVrelated philanthropic funding, including qualitative coding of grants, analysis of funding trends, and gathering supportive data for the writing of FCAA's annual report and other research efforts.
  • Implement additional datarelated research projects, such as collecting EINs, demographics, or addresses for grantee organizations; conducting research on funding flows and gaps for communities globally; or contacting organizations to bolster research/acquire additional data.
  • Conduct research on, track outreach to, and cultivate relationships with HIVrelated funders to encourage participation in FCAA's membership and resource tracking efforts.
  • Support the development and coordination of Resource Tracking Advisory Group.
  • Provide general upkeep of records in Salesforce and clean, prepare, and import datasets into Salesforce.
  • Help ensure data integrity across programs, communications, development and research activities vet and update account/contract information, groups, committees, and mailing lists, etc.
  • Participate in United Philanthropy Forum's Knowledge Management Collaborative working group for Drupal/Salesforce users, including attending weekly virtual office hours and one inperson meeting per year at the Forum's annual conference for professional development and learning opportunities.
  • Research, learn, and work with integrated Salesforce apps to build reports, update fields, create documents, and manage duplicates
  • Assist with periodic upgrades of FCAA's Drupal/Salesforce system


This position will also include roughly 10% of other cross-functional duties as assigned, which may include administrative and program support.


  • Technical savvy with strong aptitude for learning and adapting to new technology.
  • Written and oral fluency in English (additional language fluency is a plus).
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with CRM databases and web platforms (ideally Salesforce with Drupal), MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook), and Gsuite/Google Workspace.
  • Substantial experience working with large datasets in Excel and other databases.
  • Organized and detailedoriented, with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and deadlines while advancing longterm organizational goals.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a small and motivated team.
  • Interest in at least one domain central to FCAA's work, including but not limited to HIV, health and human services, LGBTQ rights, human rights, etc.
  • Ability to bring joy, humor, and positivity in the face
