The Endoscopy Scope Tech is responsible for assisting medical providers using endoscopes to diagnose or treat patients with gastrointestinal problems.

Scope Technicians will prepare the room and all equipment for appropriate procedures, sterilize the equipment post procedure and prepare the room and equipment for the next patient.

They are responsible for assisting in pre sedation care to patients, escorting patients to and from procedure rooms, maintaining inventory on all medical supplies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assemble sterilized or disinfected instruments and recheck all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly check power equipment.
  • Assist in preparing and moving patients and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms for future procedures.
  • Assist in central processing area as required, including escorting patients to GI Lab unit, assisting patients into proper attire, and assisting with preoperative care to include vitals, and preoperative instructions.
  • Manage clean supplies and instruments, maintain records for all instruments and transport items to the floor.
  • Communicate equipment and inventory status to appropriate personnel, including order status, back orders and/or changes.

  • Ability to communicate with internal customers at all levels of the organization and to build positive working relationships
  • Ability to communicate well with patients and their families and to convey information succinctly and appropriately
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Basic computer skills

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification preferred
  • Medical Assistant or EMT preferred
  • Technician license preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical environment
  • 1 year of experience as a scope technician preferred
  • 1 year of Endoscopy experience preferred
