ASSISTANT TEACHER:
Supervise, provide learning experiences, provide a safe and healthy environment; and perform related duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - The Assistant Teacher will have specific responsibilities that will include, but may not be limited to:
- Support the implementation of a dynamic daily program for toddler-age children.
- Create a warm, engaged, and productive classroom environment for children.
- Work with children individually and in groups.
- Participate and interact with children during learning/experiences.
- Promote the wellbeing of the children during learning/experiences.
- Promote the wellbeing of the children by helping them develop a positive attitude/selfimage and an ability to cooperatively play and interact with other children and adults.
- Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, including arts and crafts work, music, free time, story telling, science projects, and motor skills.
- Set up tables for meals; assist with serving, diaper changing, cleaning up and supervision of children during meals; assist in preparing beds for nap time.
- Responsible for maintaining materials, equipment, supplies and toys.
- Arrange and maintain an attractive, comfortable and inviting setting for learning oriented play experiences.
- Be aware of any apparent learning or behavioral problems; assist in meeting the special needs of those children.
- Assist in ensuring parent awareness in program planning through regular open communication and monthly parent newsletters.
- Ensure that confidentiality is kept for all child and family records and information.
- Ensure the classroom is kept in a clean and safe condition at all times.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to:
- Relate to children and assist them in age appropriate activities in order to enable them to learn at their own level.
- Supervise children in educational and play activities.
- Understand and relate to children.
- Interact and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and staff.
- Work collaboratively with all staff members.
- Read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
Education:
- Completion of 15 Early Childhood Education units to include 3 in infant/toddler care
- 6 months of experience working with children
- CPR/First Aide certification(can be obtained after hiring)
PAY RANGE:
$ Based on experience, qualifications, and skills.
Pay:
$ $16.50 per hour
