Area Manager (m/f/d)

For the Elephant, Hippopotamus, Rhino, and Children's Zoo area
Full-time position (39 hours/week) available immediately.


Your responsibilities:


As the Area Manager, you will play a key role in leading and effectively organizing a team of approximately 12-15 animal keepers.


  • Further development of animal care, ensuring the wellbeing of the animals, and presenting them in the best possible way in the area, at a high level of expertise and in line with current knowledge (in close cooperation with the curator and head animal keeper)
  • Coordination and supervision of daily area tasks (including feeding, enrichment, training, and show quality)
  • Documentation of animal observations and work processes
  • Participation in creating the duty roster
  • Active and daily implementation and monitoring of legal and internal occupational safety and health measures on site
  • Ensuring daily checks of enclosure safety
  • Development and implementation of natural and continuous animal enrichment and relevant, goaloriented animal training
  • Trustful cooperation with the responsible curators and inspectors, as well as with the technical and corporate communication departments
