The
Research Business Analyst, Children's Hospital provides support to the Children's Hospital Research Center for the financial management of clinical trials and grants for the Children's Hospital.


Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a
Research Business Analyst, Children's Hospital at Hackensack Meridian _Health_ includes:

  • Creates budgets for all clinical trials and manages appropriate distribution of fees to various participating departments and principal investigators.
  • Collaborates with Research Grant Manger in the development and preparation of research proposals, contracts, subcontracts, and agreements, to include budgets, documentation, and interpretation of funding requirements.
  • Assists in the analysis and evaluation of contracts and grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories such as salaries, percent of effort, salary adjustment increases, fringe benefits, indirect costs, materials, and equipment.
  • Helps to establish and maintain pipeline relationships with pharmaceutical companies to negotiate research budgets and contracts in accordance with Hackensack University Medical Center policy. These relationships assure the provision of novel therapies for the patient population serviced at the Children's Hospital Research Center.
  • Analyzes and evaluates awarded proposals, contracts, and subcontracts for compliance with funding agency, federal, state, and university requirements; prepares required acceptance documentation, and obtains institutional signatures; recommends approval or rejection of deviations from contract specifications.
  • Coordinates receipt of awards and contract documentation; maintains proposal and funding records, and prepares scheduled and special reports, studies and analysis.
  • Works with investigators to administer budgeting process for grants and contracts and assists in general budget development and implementation.
  • Administers grant purchasing, payments of services and reimbursements of expenses. Monitors expenses for correct allocation to funds.
  • Responsible for generating dashboard reporting to stakeholders in Monthly/Quarterly/Annually or as needed.
  • Collaborate and assist with implementation and maximization of the CTMS system for the Children's Hospital.
  • Ensures accurate patient billing process through continual assessment of study budget data entries on drug study accounts (DSA) and reconciliation of daily billing to assure compliance.
  • Invoice and Track payments from Clinical Trial Sponsors for patient visits and other study related costs as outlined in the Clinical Trial Budgets and Contracts. a. Followup on pending payments with third part Vendors b. Perform Study Closeout Final Account Reconciliation
  • Process payment requests for Patient Reimbursement and to third party Vendors according to hospital policy.
  • Attend Finance Meetings and assist other Departments with Patient Account Discrepancies.
  • Resolve outstanding patient bills/disputes with the Finance Department and/or directly with Research Patients.
  • Troubleshoot Internal Department Billing Processes.
  • Conduct Annual Billing Training for research staff and on an asneeded basis for new hire employee Department Orientation.
  • Participates and/or assists in special projects, and performs associated administrative duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Excel).
  • Two or more years of experience with Billing & Collection Processes.
  • Experience with CPT Coding Standards.
  • Experience with Pediatrics and/or Research.
  • Ability to Analyze Complex Situations and Identify Solutions and make appropriate determinations.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
